Coffee, chocolate and paper

The everyday materials at the heart of her work.

Many of Paradise Shoman's materials come from the kitchen rather than an art supply store. She works with natural and recycled materials: chocolate, coffee, mandarin peel, thyme, real leaves and petals, and recycled paper.

Paper is stained with coffee and left to dry, then torn and layered. Earth Harmony brings recycled paper, chocolate and coffee together with ink on foam board; Flow of Serenity uses mandarin peel, watercolour and ink on recycled paper.

Chocolate is part of how Orphic Herz began. Doce Hut tells of the stress of adapting to a new city, and of the comfort she found in chocolate, which sparked the creativity that led to the project.
